I can't stop shipping GerCzech, I had to update the #ishipitmeme that I made some time ago with an old, discarded design of Czechia.

This is my current APH / Hetalia OTP; Germany / Ludwig x Czech Republic / Veronika (my fan name for her). They both are described as serious and hard working, so I think they would get along well.

Speaking of this, I received a very important question about this pairing, so I will answer it now.

I was asked if I am aware that there still are Germans claiming territories of the current Czech Republic, and if that has to do with this pairing.

It is a very complex question, in facts, but the short answer is no.

In my opinion, territorial claims between States are absolutely the opposite of what love is for human beings: claiming the land of another State means hating it, denying its right to exist and wanting to destroy it for the sake of nationalism/imperialism, disrespecting its people, culture and history.

To me, shipping Germany and Czech Republic means to depict a romantic, and I believe that love consists in mutual respect, trust and taking care of the partner, not a desire to submit or control them. To me, this couple (and also all other "controversial" couples like PrusPol or even GerBel) represent forgiveness, mutual recognition and forgetting the pain of the past.

Of course I do not expect this last dynamic to be easy in real life (neither between individuals nor between folks), because the life of human beings is short and, unlike Countries, our relations are not based on mere politics, trades, treaties and alliances - which change by the move of a pen, a hand-shake or a royal marriage. Also, unlike fictional characters, day by day, the number of choices and possibilities that we have in front of us becomes narrow, while fictional characters can experience as many alternative lives as we can create for them.
